Welcome

China has a rich and diverse cultural heritage.  While the quality of Chinese fine arts including painting, calligraphy, porcelain and other objects has long been admired, the furniture has only come to attention in more recent times.  It was not until late in the last century that China opened its doors to the outside world and local markets were established for people from overseas to purchase pieces.  The detailed construction and beautiful designs were greatly admired and the furniture quickly found its way to homes around the globe.

Crafted from solid timber, the bold joinery has an ancestry of traditional house construction.  Over the centuries skills and techniques were honed to create sophisticated and ingenious joints that even today are regarded with awe and respect.

The delicate carving displays motifs that are highly symbolic reflecting aspirations and beliefs of an earlier time that continue to resonate today.  Seeking to interpret and understand these forms is to open a world filled with history, legends and cultural wealth.

Our passion and joy is in collecting genuine old and antique furniture.  Our craftsmen believe it an honour and privilege to work with such pieces and use a combination of conservation and restoration techniques to bring the furniture back to life in a condition that ensures its longevity.

Good quality antiques are always in demand.  The value of an item includes criteria such as authenticity, rarity, the materials used and its condition.  Furniture that is built to last will only retain that status if it has received appropriate care and treatment.  Such pieces enhance the lives of the present owner, and they also grow in value forming an inheritance for the appreciation of future generations and society as a whole.
