19th century

  • walnut/elm

Smaller furniture is valuable to complete a setting. For example, tall long entry tables leave a space and this table can fill the gap leaving room for a decorative vase or carving on top. As a stand alone piece it's a useful side table or coffee table.

A feature of this table is the combination of walnut panels and elm wood frame. Walnut is a highly prized timber and only experienced craftsmen worked with it in China. The apron is an open carved long life motif and the legs finish in inward horse hoof feet.
