Barry Jackson is a Visual Artist who works in his Tanja Studio which is based in Tathra.
Barry has B.A. in sculpture from Swinburne University in Victoria. He has had an extensive career with ceramics that has included teaching and exhibiting both in Australia and overseas.
His work spans a large range of work disciplines, from high fired porcelain domestic and decorative ware, through to large black and multi fired sculptural pieces.
The driving concept of the sculptural work is the exploration of the nature of existence, and the illusion of permanence.
Barry has a unique technique of multiple firings, adding sump oil, and breaking and piecing back together of his work.
Barry was awarded a Diploma of Honor in the Korean International Ceramic Biennale 2019, the Sculpture on Clyde 2018 major prize winner, and was also a finalist in the 2019 Clunes Ceramic and the 2019 Muswellbrook Art Prize.
