Con Slancio by Kylie Fogarty
The next in the Tempo Series, Con Slancio – With passion and enthusiasm.
This work is influenced by the atmospheric conditions of the sea and rhythm of the ocean, which is a constant muse in my works. As I create, I go completely into my minds eye, losing myself as the works evolve. I hear the rhythm and can actually smell the air.
The work has been created with much expression and energy, using using bamboo reed pens and brushes on luscious stretched linen canvas, using Gold and Black archival pigmented ink and impasto.
About the Artist
Kylie Fogarty is a professional mid career artist, based in Canberra.
I explore my responses and connection to the natural world. This often includes cloud formations, coastal scenes, rainforests whilst narrating moments of time.
Kylie utilises drawing as an integral element of her arts practice. She engages the use of line work to depict connections to her subject matter by using expressive yet considered mark making.
This love of drawing has extended into a diverse practice which includes drawing, printmaking, painting and miniature works of art.
Kylie Fogarty is an exhibiting artist who participates regularly in Group and Solo exhibitions. She was a finalist in The 2020 Kedumba Drawing Award (invited), The 2018 Grace Cossington Smith Art Award and The Lyn McCrea Drawing Prize 2018. Her works are housed in many collections, including being archived in the National Gallery of Australia in the Animalia International Print Exchange 2013 and 2015.
