Deep plum red lacquered stools

Early 20th century

  • elm
  • 405mm wide x 405mm deep x 500mm high

Highlight of these stools is the original deep red lacquer. Lacquering was a time-consuming and expensive process that was done to preserve the timber and give a lustrous finish. To achieve a deep colour requires many coats and achieves a deep mirror-like tone.
