lingua franca by Pia Larsen
The pandemic generated a global lingua franca. A language of particular words and phrases that was shared through the stories of lockdown, sickness and death, kindness and compassion. The work presents fragments from that shared language amidst inexorable forces that paradoxically heightened people’s fears and sense of connection to those near and far.
