Timber baby bath

Early 20th century

  • Spruce
  • 45cm wide x 36cm deep x 30cm high

Fascinating household piece used in northern China as a bath to wash newborn babies and also as a basin to wash down older children at a time when there was no home plumbing. Very sturdy, it could now serve a range of decorative purposes including a base for bonsai style landscape and floral arrangements.
