This cabinet with its extensive carving would be a delightful feature piece in the home. The small top doors have deep relief carving of martial art scenes from Chinese opera. The martial art theme continues with small carved panels on the doors. The two outside panels are young boys, Universal Twins and represent a wish for a happy marriage.
The rich floral door carving are peony and chrysanthemum symbols of long life and prosperity. The door pulls have plum blossom motifs. Each petal represents one of the Five Blessings of Happiness, Good health, Long life, Love of virtue and a peaceful death.
