Eight Immortal dining table with dragon carving
Origin: Shanxi province
- 19th century
- Chinese cedar
- 970mm wide x 970mm deep x 860mm high
A superb example of the traditional dining table. The standout feature is the timber. Chinese cedar is a slow growing northern cypress. It is close grained allowing it to take fine carving and smooth to the touch.
This table has high stretchers convenient for tall people to sit at. The corner spandrels have light relief carving of dragons so you can enjoy the strength and authority of the emperor as you sit with family and friends over a spicy meal and enjoy each others conversation.
