Two drawer black lacquered coffer

Origin: Shanxi province

Early 19th century

  • elm wood
  • 680mm wide x 410mm deep x 540mm high

Very old, charming and ready to serve. Most of the original black lacquer is intact, the patina adding to the character of the table. Remove the drawers to reveal hidden storage for personal valuables. There is relief wave form carving on the spandrels and apron.

The table would be at home in a modern decor adding contrast and interest to contemporary settings. Equally, antiques from different cultures talk to each other, so this table would fit right in with a home already furnished with antique furniture.
