Thickets become a metaphor for difficult mothering experiences. The drawing of them seduces me with their complexity, at the same time providing the space to contemplate anxiety. Supporting my adult children, some with complex mental health needs, envelops me as much as my thickets do. Their branches both support and entangle me, I get caught up in cycles of thicket thinking.
