Artist Statement
Forget moonlit alleys and smoky nightclubs. “Sunlight and Secrets” plunges you into a daytime film noir, where danger simmers beneath the golden glow. A lone femme fatale, draped in the faded blush of a satin pink dress, stands amidst a lush wilderness of emerald and golden greens.
Gone are the stark shadows, replaced by dappled sunlight filtering through foliage. Yet, an undercurrent of mystery persists. The woman’s gaze, sharp as a hawk’s, scans the sun-drenched fields, secrets simmering behind her veil of eyelashes. Each bold lino print pulsates with unspoken desires and hidden agendas.
This series reimagines the classic noir archetype, casting it in the harsh light of day. No longer cloaked in shadows, the woman’s vulnerability and resilience are laid bare. She is a paradox, a delicate bloom thriving in the untamed wilds, her satin dress a whisper against the roar of the green.
“Sunlight and Secrets” is an invitation to step into a forgotten Eden, where beauty and danger twine like emerald vines. It’s a love letter to the noir genre, reborn under the unforgiving sun, where every rustle of leaves and flutter of dress holds the promise of an untold story.
